Most productions shoot dual-system: the camera records picture, a dedicated recorder captures sound, and the two are married in post. The link is the slate clap or shared timecode — both give the editor a reference to align by. Once synced, every take carries its dialogue as shot, which is the foundation the whole post workflow builds on. Single-system shooting, with audio going straight into the camera, trades quality and flexibility for simplicity.
