White-label Production

What this is about

Agencies without production capacity, consultancies with content offers and overloaded production companies all buy white-label work. The producing side gets volume without sales effort; the selling side gets capacity without headcount. The whole model rests on two contract points: discretion — the end client must not learn who actually produced — and portfolio rights, because the producer usually cannot show the work publicly. Price that invisibility in, or the reference value of good work is simply lost.

A term only helps when everyone on set means the same thing by it — so what follows is how it is used, not a dictionary definition.

What runs differently here

Where this differs from the general case:

• Discretion is the product — a leaked credit can end the client relationship
• Portfolio rights are usually excluded, so the reference value must be priced into the fee
• Communication runs through the selling partner; direct client contact needs explicit permission
