What this is about

Specs change without announcement, so check them at delivery instead of trusting a note from last year. The codec is rarely the trap; framing is. In vertical placements the interface covers parts of the picture, so titles need safe areas the wide master never needed, and a centre crop of a 16:9 shot often loses the subject altogether. Decide during pre-production whether to protect for the crop while framing wide, or to shoot the vertical version as its own setup. Captions and loudness also differ per channel, which makes them a delivery task rather than an afterthought.

A term only helps when everyone on set means the same thing by it — so what follows is how it is used, not a dictionary definition.
