A safety video exists because someone has a duty to instruct, and it is watched by people who must confirm that they watched it. That legal framing changes production more than any creative brief: content has to be complete for the hazards it covers, current with the rules in force, and specific to the site rather than generic. It differs from the training video, which teaches a skill and may simplify, and from the onboarding video, which welcomes. Shoots take place in the real hazard environment with a safety officer present, and the biggest planning item is usually approval — safety management, works council and sometimes insurers all read the script.

The format determines scope, crew and timeline — before the first location has been scouted.

Can we reuse a generic safety video?

Only for hazards that are genuinely identical everywhere. Anything tied to your machines, layout or materials has to be shot on site, or the instruction does not match the workplace.

Who has to approve the content?

At minimum the person responsible for occupational safety. Depending on the company, the works council and the insurer look at it too, so the schedule needs those rounds built in.
