Lavaliers earn their place where the boom cannot go: wide shots, walking dialogue, cars, and interviews with untrained speakers. Hiding one under clothing is a craft of its own — tape, mounts, and fabric choice decide whether you get clean dialogue or constant rustle. Wireless links add another failure point, so recordists scan frequencies at every location. In interviews, a visible lav on the lapel is standard practice and bothers nobody.

Why does my lavalier sound muffled under clothing?
Fabric covers the capsule. Use a proper concealer mount, create a small air gap, and tape fabric layers so they cannot rub against each other.
