What this is about

This is the cover that locations, venues and city authorities ask about, and often the condition for getting a key at all. It concerns harm the production does to other people and their property, not the production's own equipment or footage. Every shoot creates opportunities for it: cable runs through a lobby, a light stand next to glass, a tripod on old parquet. Small companies often assume their general business liability is enough; the honest check is whether the policy names film work at external locations. Ask the insurer directly and keep the certificate reachable on the shoot day.

A term only helps when everyone on set means the same thing by it — so what follows is how it is used, not a dictionary definition.
