What this is about

Where a model release deals with people, this one deals with things: a private apartment, a shop interior, a company yard, a recognisable artwork, a branded product. The signature must come from whoever actually controls the location or the rights to the object, and that is not always the person who opened the door — tenants, owners, facility managers and rights holders can be four different parties. Written permission also settles the practical points that matter more on the day than the legal ones: access times, power, noise limits, restoration and who pays if something breaks.

A term only helps when everyone on set means the same thing by it — so what follows is how it is used, not a dictionary definition.
